Lion Electric

Canadian Electric Bus & Truck Manufacturer invested over $70M in its first manufacturing facility outside of Canada in Joliet, IL in May 2021. The 900,000 SF facility will produce 20,000 vehicles per year once fully operational and employ upwards of 745 Illinoisans.

Rivian

The electric vehicle company occupies more than 3.9M SF of manufacturing space in Normal Illinois where it currently employs more than 4,400 people. Vehicles produced at the facility will include SUVs, vans and pickup trucks.

EVBox

Netherlands-based Electric Vehicle Charger Manufacturer opened its first North American manufacturing facility and North American headquarters in Libertyville in 2020. The 60,000 SF facility is capable of producing over 200 charging stations per week and employs upwards of 80 Illinoisans.

Numerous battery technology and energy storage research firms are working towards more efficient and powerful batteries. Many of these firms are poised to take the next steps towards manufacturing products that employ their technologies right here in Illinois.
